Our Surgeons

Our highly qualified surgeons offer plastic and reconstructive surgical services to all of South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and North Dakota. We also have many patients who travel from outside the five state area specifically for our surgeons’ expertise. Our main Clinic, located in Sioux Falls, S.D. was established in 1984. In 1997 we opened a fully staffed satellite clinic in Dakota Dunes, S.D. We also do outreach clinics at The Yankton Medical Clinic in Yankton and at the Mallard Pointe Surgical Center in Watertown.

Our surgeons are board certified in plastic surgery and offer services in the entire field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our staff is fully trained to provide patient services in a friendly and efficient manner. We believe you’ll find our clinic setting friendly, quiet and comfortable.

Confidentiality is paramount with us and everything said will be held in the strictest confidence.

Our surgeons are on staff at all Sioux Falls hospitals, the SiouxLand Surgery Center specialty hospital in Dakota Dunes, Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, Mallard Pointe Surgical Center in Watertown and Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.

For those out of town patients and families, the Center Inn is located across the street from our Sioux Falls clinic and the Country Inn and Suites is located across from our Dakota Dunes clinic.

Our surgeons are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency needs.

J. Anthony Breit, M.D.    Vaughn H. Meyer, M.D.    L. Patrick Miller, M.D.

J. Anthony Breit, M.D.Dr. Breit is a native of Sioux Falls, S.D. He attended the University of South Dakota and received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine, Vermillion, S.D. He completed his general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, IA in 2003 and his plastic surgery residency at Indiana University, Indianapolis, IN in 2005. 

During his residency he received the Latchem-Phillips-Schropp Award. This esteemed award is given to the outstanding chief resident for manifesting the highest standards of medical training, medical skills and caring relationships with patients and colleagues. He is board certified in plastic surgery and general surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, AMA, and a member of the South Dakota State Medical Association. 

He joined the practice of Plastic Surgery Associates of S.D. in July 2005. He is on staff at the Sioux Falls Surgical Center, Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Valley Hospital, all in Sioux Falls, S.D.,  and Siouxland Surgical Center at Dakota Dunes in Dakota Dunes, S.D.   His practice includes the entire scope of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery with special emphasis in breast reconstruction, breast augmentation and facial rejuvenation. He strives for perfection in the operating room as well as developing an honest and sincere rapport with all of his patients. 

Dr. Breit grew up in Sioux Falls, S.D. and is happy to be relocated back in his hometown. He has two children. He enjoys playing competitive tennis, snow skiing, hunting, fishing and reading. 
Vaughn H. Meyer, M.D.Vaughn Meyer, M.D. is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for over 20 years. The ASPS is the largest Plastic Surgery Society in the nation and serves to maintain the integrity of the field of Plastic Surgery requiring rigorous training, ongoing training and high ethical standards of its members. Eligibility requires Board Certification in the field of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Meyer is also a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery which is the leading organization for aesthetic surgeons. The ASAPS serves to maintain ongoing education and training for additional expertise of its members in the realm of aesthetic care and surgery. Dr. Meyer is not only certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery but also is recertified by the American Board of Surgery, the certifying body for general surgeons. Both certifying boards require specific training in every aspect of each field respectively. In addition, Dr. Meyer is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Member of the American Medical Association, The Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons, The American Association for Hand Surgery, The American Cleft Palate Association, The American Burn Association, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, The American Medical Association and the South Dakota Medical Association. 

Hospitals served by Dr. Meyer are the Sioux Falls Surgical Center, Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Valley Hospital, VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and Lewis and Clark Specialty Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota; and Siouxland Surgery Center at Dakota Dunes in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Dr. Meyer is co-founder of Plastic Surgery Associates of South Dakota, Ltd. in Sioux Falls. His practice includes all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. In addition, he co-founded and was co-director of the first Burn Unit in South Dakota at Avera McKennan Hospital. 

Having been raised in the small town community of Tulare, South Dakota Dr. Meyer attended undergraduate training at the University of South Dakota and attended medical school at the University of South Dakota Medical School and subsequently graduated from the University of North Dakota Medical School. General Surgery training was completed subsequently at the University of Missouri Health Science Center in Columbia, Missouri where Dr. Meyer stayed to complete the residency program in Plastic Surgery as well. One year was spent on the Plastic Surgery teaching staff at the University of Missouri. 

Dr. Meyer and his wife reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota having raised three children who are now grown.
L. Patrick Miller, M.D.Dr. Patrick Miller is a native of South Dakota. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota and received his medical degree from Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his general surgery residency in 1985 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After attaining his general surgery residency he was in active duty in the United States Naval Reserve from 1985-1991. 

During this time, he completed his plastic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1989. Dr. Miller was an attending general surgeon at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina from 1985-1987 and an attending plastic surgeon at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California from 1989-1991. After his honorable discharge from the military, Dr. Miller started his private practice in Aiken, North Carolina and specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery. 

In 1996, he moved to Sioux Falls and joined the staff at Plastic Surgery Associates of South Dakota. Dr. Miller is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the South Dakota State Medical Association. 

Dr. Miller is on staff at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sanford Health, Sioux Falls Surgical Center, and the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SiouxLand Surgery Center in Dakota Dunes and Prairie Lakes Hospital and Mallard Pointe Surgical Center in Watertown. Dr. Miller’s practice includes the entire scope of plastic and reconstructive surgery, especially breast reconstruction, breast augmentation and facial rejuvenation. 

He lives in Sioux Falls with his wife Beth and their four children.
